We are a small localized service and installation company specializing in the sale, service and installation of biomedical equipment used in laboratory research and biotech facilities. Our focus is on sterilizers, washers, biosafety cabinets and other related lab equipment.
Some of this equipment is very large and heavy; not so easy to get into the existing structure. This is another aspect of our business – rigging heavy equipment into the laboratory space. Often times, equipment has to be dismantled to fit into existing structures. Also the large older equipment that needs to be removed from the facility, will not move through doors and limiting structures. Our skill set allows us to dismantle, move into place and then reassemble equipment. As well, the older equipment can be cut up and moved out for scrapping.
The company was founded in 1989 by Tim Holden, who saw the need for a small, dedicated service entity to support the busy Maryland, Northern Virginia and DC research and biotech community.
We are now 17 members strong, maintaining fully stocked service vehicles around the metro area.

Avant Garde provides local service geared to the modern day demands of the busy lab or animal facility. The focus of this enterprise centers around a rapid response time coupled with a pragmatic commitment to problem solving. We believe in maintaining a proper service tech to customer ratio. Our existing customer base in the local area affords us the ability to confidently maintain a less than 12 hour service response time. In most cases it is same day!
