Stainless Steel
Modwall/Equipment Enclosure Panels
A. SUMMARY:
Stainless Steel Modwalls: Stainless Steel Modwalls are designed to create a Physical Barrier that compliments surrounding sterilizing, washing and related equipment where indicated on the Laboratory Furnishings and Equipment Drawings.
B. APPROVED MANUFACTURERS:
Avant Garde Scientific, Stainless Modwalls Inc, chosen Washer Manufacturer or chosen Sterilizer Manufacturer
C. DESCRIPTION:
1. Each Modular Wall is made of several box shaped panels securely bolted to one another and held firmly in place by adjustable brackets. Several openings are left within each modular wall for washing or sterilization equipment to protrude as required.
2. The wall shall conceal the equipment body, all appurtenances and confine excessive heat with the enclosed area. All box panels shall have a #4 surface finish with consistent grain direction where applicable to compliment adjacent panels and equipment.
3. There shall be no visible fastening methods of panels on either side of the wall.
D. SUBMITTALS
1. Include all construction details, material descriptions, and where possible related installation photographs with data specifications.
2. Include all plans, elevations of the proposed Modular Wall
E. MATERIALS:
1. Panels: 18-gauge, Type 304 Stainless Steel with a # 4 finish
2. Insulation: Mineral Wool.
- U-Channel/Adjustable Anchoring Brackets: 18-gauge, Type 304 Stainless Steel
- Access Doors: 18-gauge, Type 304 Stainless Steel with a # 4 finish
- Trim Pieces: 18-gauge, Type 304 Stainless Steel with a #4 finish
- Gasketing: Achieved with Metal Colored Silicone
F. FABRICATION:
1. Panels: Wall panels are constructed of 18-gauge, 304 Stainless Steel with a number 4 finish. Each Panel is 2” thick and pre-fabricated with exact dimensions for location within the wall. Due to installation variances, final dimensions are determined before fabrication by field measuring. (All equipment should be set in place and fully anchored prior to field measuring).
Double-Sided Panels consist of a front and back skin, both have a 90-degree form running around the perimeter. A reinforced hat form running through the center of the panel, lends added rigidity and integrity to the panels, preventing “oil canning.” Panels are filled with fire retardant glass fiber mineral wool. The back skin is attached to the front panel using internal stainless steel strips, and hidden fastening methods along the sides. There are openings left in the back of the panels to anchor each panel to the next. A cover plate closes this off once all panels are bolted together. The panels are arranged with a vertical grain direction to conceal all open areas around the equipment. Each panel shall be firmly attached to the adjacent panel using internal ¼ 20 SS hardware.
2. Insulation: Fire retardant mineral wool is used as an insulation in our panels.
It has an R-Value of 13. Its noise reductions add an STC of 4-12 to each panel and hold an NRC of 1, much higher than that of solid insulations. It also absorbs up to 25% more sound. It is moisture resistant and inorganic; mold cannot feed on it. It is naturally noncombustible and can withstand temperatures up to 2150F. With this we exceed stringent fire rating requirements e.g. NFPA220, ASTM E 136
3. C-Channel/ Anchoring Brackets: The panels are firmly attached to both the floor and existing perimeter walls using C Channel and brackets. These not only lock the panels in place but shall also conceal any clearance openings between the modwall perimeter and adjacent building walls, floors and ceiling. There shall be no visible anchoring or fastening methods on the front face of the wall.
4. Access Doors: Shall be constructed of 18-gauge, Type 304 Stainless Steel with a #4 finish. Grain Direction shall match adjacent panels. The door is fabricated with similar methods to the modwall panels, keeping the look of the wall consistent. All Hardware Shall be Stainless Steel. Door shall be held in place with a full-length Type 304 Stainless Steel, “Piano” style hinge. The door shall be provided with a keyed lockset with an anti-microbial finish. The door shall have a gasketed stainless steel sweep. The door is set in an 18ga stainless steel frame.
5. Trim Pieces: 18ga, 304 stainless steel angles.
6. Modular walls are gasketed with metal colored silicone resistant to the growth of mold and mildew. This silicone sealant has Federal Specifications of TT-S001543A(COM-NBS), TT-S-00230 C (COM-NBS), ASTM-C-920, Type S, NS, Class 25.
